  • Small businesses accounted for 65 percent of all net new jobs over the past 17 years.
  • Small businesses employ 77 million Americans.
  • 89 percent of consumers agree that independent businesses contribute positively to local economies.
  • Residential neighborhoods served by a successful independent business district gained, on average, 50 percent more in home values than their citywide markets.
  • Independent restaurants return more than twice as much money per dollar of sales than national restaurant chains.
  • If independent businesses regained their 1990 market shares, it would create 200,000 new small businesses, generate nearly $300 billion in revenues and employ more than 1.6 million American workers.
  • If just half the U.S. employed population spent $50 each month in locally owned independent businesses, it would generate more than $42.6 billion in revenue.
  • For every square foot a local firm occupies, the local economy gains $179, compared with just $105 for a chain store.

We're so fortunate that Beavercreek offers a wonderful variety of retailers, restaurants and service industry professionals!  Did you know that there are over 80 restaurants right here in our community?!  Thanks to our proximity to WPAFB, we're a bonified melting pot of cultures, and our restauranteurs represent that - from the cuisine of Columbia, India and Thailand to fine American fare as well as homestyle selections.

Think back upon some of your favorite local shops and eateries that didn't survive the test of time... the hobby shop in Knollwood, Cap'n Bogey's entertainment complex, G.D. Ritzy's restaurant, Beaver Valley Cinemas and so many more.  When we share our favorite local hot spots with our friends and neighbors it helps grow the marketplace for each dramatically!

Local retailers offer virtually everything you need in your daily life, plus a wide array of the extras that individualize each of us.  Whether a repurposed table or a bobble from an exclusive boutique - it's right here in the Creek!  An important benefit that often goes overlooked is the value of  advice - don't believe me?  Just try to stump the great folks over at Barney's Hardware!

BeavercreeksLivingWe at BeavercreeksLiving.com are committed to supporting local business, and we're putting our money where are collective mouths are.  Whenever possilbe, our consumer dollars are spent in Beavercreek - groceries, haircuts, dining, clothing, etc.

Additionally, we're eager to share with you the wonderful local experiences that we have on our Facebook page.  At the beginning of May 2015 we're rolling out our 'Buy Beavercreek' directory.  We're incredibly excited to provide a service that benefits both vendor and consumer!  Stay tuned for further details, or check out our demos above!
