Kim Farrell and the Parks Department pulled off a flawless Memorial Day ceremony despite Mother Nature making her presence known.
It was an absolute pleasure to see such a respectful crowd had gathered including boy scouts, girl scouts, veterans, citizens, and numerous military personnel in uniform.
Sprinkles of rain greeted the playing of the bagpipes as well as the presentation of the colors, invocation and Mayor Jarvis' welcome, but the liquid sunshine gave way to a gentle breeze for guest speaker Colonel Leah G. Lauderback, Commander of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center.
Other program participants included the American Legion Post #763 posting of the colors, with VFW Post #8312 raising the flag and giving a 21-gun salute. Beavercreek High School students provided an always touching rendidtion of Taps.
We at BeavercreeksLiving.com want to offer a special Thank You to State Representative Rick Perales from Ohio House District 73 for providing the most effective interference since Steve Bartman. Those who were there know... and we appreciated it!!
