City / Township
- New Park - Overlook Reserve is a rustic park located at the end of Spicer Drive between the Spicer Heights neighborhood and Park Overlook Drive.
- Capital Improvement Projects - When the city or township asks for additional funds for streets and roads, I often hear people say, "What we have is fine". What they don't realize is that beyond the everyday maintenance and snow removal, these funds are used to help secure federal and state grants to IMPROVE our overall infrastructure. We live in a very popular area, it's time to accept and revel in that! We are able to enjoy better and better roads, traffic patterns and bikeways and in most cases pay less than 25% (sometimes as low as 5%!) of the project's cost from local funds! Our leadership are great stewards of our investment dollars into our community! Here are some highlights:
- I-675 Pedestrian Bridge - The project generally consists of the construction of a multi-purpose pedestrian/bicycle bridge across I-675. The path leading up to the bridge will begin just to the north of the Pentagon Blvd. at Commons Blvd. intersection and will continue along the west side of the Sam’s Club property to the new bridge over the interstate. A ramping structure will be constructed along the north side of I-675, and the path will connect to Center Park Blvd. in Fairborn, by the Holiday Inn. Construction is currently scheduled to begin around late summer of 2014. (Photo below)
- Widening of North Fairfield over I-675 - This project generally consists of the widening and re-decking of the N. Fairfield Road bridge over I-675. This project will provide an additional lane over I-675 on N. Fairfield Road to improve traffic flow, and this work has been combined with a larger ODOT I-675 resurfacing project that will improve I-675 from just west of N. Fairfield Road to SR 235. The improvements to I-675 are planned to be constructed in 2014 and 2015, with the widening of the bridge on N. Fairfield Road planned to begin in 2015. (Photo below)
- Grange Hall / Kemp Widening - The project involves the widening of Grange Hall Road from Kemp Road to Gardenview Drive/Lujon Drive. Construction on this project is currently scheduled to begin in the summer of 2015.
- Dayton-Xenia / Grange Hall Streetscape - The project is the enhancement of the Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road intersection that generally consists of the following components: Installation of decorative lighting, brick pavers and landscaping. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in Spring 2015. (Photo below)
- Dayton-Xenia Widening and Enhancements - (Dayton-Xenia Corridor Revitalization Study)The first phase ot the project generally consists of the widening of Dayton-Xenia Road from Woods Drive to just east of Wallaby Drive, and the second phase from East Lynn Drive to Woods Drive. Lighting and landscaping enhancements will follow. These projects are slated to begin in 2014 and extend through 2018.
- US 35 Corridor Improvement - In 2004, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) in cooperation with ODOT completed the Greene US 35 Corridor Study to recommend a strategy to convert the section of US 35 between the North Fairfield Road interchange and the Xenia Bypass to a limited access facility. The current project, GRE-35-4.26, focuses on the recommendations of the Corridor Study following ODOT’s Project Development Process (PDP). The PDP provides a framework for the decision making to take a project from the planning stages to construction. Additional information can be obtained at the MVRPC website (http://www.mvrpc.org/projects/us-35/gre). The project is currently in the environmental analysis and design phases. Environmental analysis is currently scheduled to be completed in 2014. Design is currently scheduled to be completed in 2015. Please see additional information on MVRPC’s website for current timetables for Right-of-Way and Construction. Please be advised that these dates are likely to change due to the Right-of-Way and Construction portions of the project currently being unfunded. (Photo below)
BeavercreeksLiving.com
At BeavercreeksLiving.com we're transitioning away from providing 'news' about Beavercreek (there are plenty of better resources for that!) and focusing on special interest pieces and items that will support our residents. We're making the site much more interactive and welcome your thoughts and comments on what you see! We're also granting public access to a number of our modules including the ability to post your own events on our calendar!
- The Beavercreek Heritage Trail - When we think of 'Beavercreek' we think of it as the home we are familiar with today. But are you aware that you and I are merely a sliver of its 200+ year history? On The Beavercreek History Trail you'll learn how we got here! As of this writing it is still very much under construction, yet frankly we're anticipating a project that will never end, thanks to the participation of you and your neighbors!
- Mobile Responsivity - Nearly 40% of online traffic now occurs on mobile devices. We've written our updated site to be 'mobile responsive' which means that no matter the device you're visiting us upon, the site will automatically resize itself to your screen's optimal resolution!
- Screen Reader - We've integrated a WCAG compliant screen reader onto our site. On The Beavercreek Heritage Trail and the Best of Beavercreek Blog you can simply click 'PLAY' on the screen reader in the lower right corner and it'll dictate the text to you via your device's speaker! On other pages, you can highlight a portion of text and click 'PLAY'. This works on desktops, laptops and mobile devices. We also incorporated a disgronifer in the upper right corner of our articles so that you can increase font size if you desire.
- Buy Beavercreek Registry - As our good friends at The Beavercreek Buzz are always reminding us - Buy Beavercreek! When we support our local business and business owners it benefits us all. We know where the highly visible retailers are, but often miss those off the beaten path. We're creating a directory where restaurants, retailers and service providers can make you aware of what they offer! Watch for this to roll out in the very near future...
- Restaurant Recommendations - There are over fifty eateries and watering holes in our township. Our reviews will have something for everyone - from extreme foodies to picky children! Stay tuned!
